Agate

We sometime tend to take agate for granted because it is such a common stone but it is anything but common in its beauty and versatility. Agate comes in a huge variety of colours and patterns. Here are a few examples that I’ve collected over the years.

Agate is an excellent protection and grounding stone that is believed to strengthen the body’s connection to the earth. It can also lesson feelings of envy by grounding the emotions. It is said to give courage, energy and strength, dispel fears and increase self-confidence. It can also be used to help improve and harmonize relationships. It is also believed to bring good luck.

Cleansing and Charging Gemstones: The Difference and How To

There is a plethora of information on the Internet on how to cleanse and charge gemstones, but I often find the information given a little misleading. Usually I will read something like “Cleanse and charge your gemstone by…”. Although not completely wrong, it’s not exactly correct either.

I understand why many people lump these two together. There is so much information to give that one can easily write a book about this. But do not be mistaken, cleansing and charging your gemstone are two different things and therefore may require two different procedures. By understanding the difference, it makes it much easier to identify which it is your gemstones and crystals need as well as deciding how to proceed.

I’ve felt drawn to the power and beauty of stones since I was a child collecting them on the side of the road. They are like little works for art and they resonate with energy from deep inside the earth. I thought I’d share a few of my favourite specimens.

Malachite

Azurite forms on copper deposits and over time it absorbs water and changes into Malachite. They are usually found together and are often referred to as ‘earth stone’ because of their resemblance to land and sea. Because of its ability to change from one mineral to another azurite processes a transformative quality. It can stimulate an increase in communication skills, intuition, creativity and inspiration.
